Biography

European Aristocracy
Lord George Beauclerk was a member of the aristocracy in British Isles.

Lord George Augustus Beauclerk was born 14 December 1818, the son of William Beauclerk, 8th Duke of St. Albans and his second wife Mary Janetta (nee Nelthorpe), and was the youngest of his parents' thirteen children. He was a great-great-great-grandson of King Charles II by Charles's mistress Nell Gwyn.

George was baptised on 28 December 1818 in Westminster, London, England.[1]

He purchased a commission in the British Army, serving in the 10th Hussars Regiment (The Prince of Wales Own Royal Regiment of Light Dragoons) as a Cornet 28 August 1838, Lieutenant 5 February 1841, and Captain 6 December 1844.[2]

Death

He died unmarried at his home, 12 Little Stanhope Street, in Mayfair on 3 January 1880[3] at age of 61. Probate was granted on 28 January 1880.[4]

A death notice in the Glasgow Evening Citizen on 5 January 1880 read that George ...died in London on Saturday evening in his 62nd year from bronchitis; his Lordship was uncle of the Duke of St. Albans, and served with the 10th Hussars in the Crimean War. [5]
