Lord Sidney Beauclerk was the fifth son of of Charles Beauclerk KG (abt.1670-abt.1726), 1st Duke of St Albans, and his wife Lady Diana (de Vere) Beauclerk (1679-1742) and was born 27 February 1702/03. Lord Sidney was a notorious fortune-hunter. [1]

Marriage

Lord Sidney married 9 December 1736, Mary Norris, the daughter and eventual heir of Thomas Norris, MP, of Speke Hall, Lancashire, and his wife, Magdalen Aston. [2] She may have been born 22 March 1698 at Speke.

Children

They had one son;

  1. Topham Beauclerk (1739-1780)

Life Story

Sidney was educated at Eton and Trinity College, University of Oxford, where he achieved the degrees of MA in 1727 and Doctor of Civil Law in 1733.

He was returned as MP for New Windsor in the Parliament of 1733. He was also a courtier who acquired the posts of Master of His Majesty’s Harriers and Lord of the Bedchamber to George II. He was Vice Chamberlain of His Majesty’s Household 1740–42, which gave him membership of the Privy Council.

Sidney had a home in Windsor, and in Pall Mall London. He also had access to his wife's inherited property, Speke Hall in Liverpool. [3]

Sidney had smallpox in November 1734.

Death

Sidney died 23 November 1744, [1] and Mary died 20 November 1766.
