Margaret was a Friend (Quaker)

Biography

Margaret Beeson was born c. 1708 and died on March 19, 1775 at New Garden, Guilford County, North Carolina. She was the daughter of Richard Beeson and Charity Grubb.

  • Married: Walter Thornburgh of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
    • He was the son of Walter Thornburgh and wife Martha. Walter Thornburgh was born in 1724 and died in February 1783.

Children of Walter Thornburgh & Margaret Beeson:

Henry Thornburgh d. 24 Apr 1804
William Thornburgh d. 13 Feb 1786
Joseph Thornburgh b. 1734
Hannah Thornburgh+ b. 20 Nov 1738, d. 30 Oct 1812
Margaret Thornburgh+ b. 1744, d. 12 Mar 1819
Mary Thornburgh+ b. 1745
Edward Thornburgh+ b. 1750, d. 13 Oct 1790

Hypothesis Theory: We know that Walter Thornburgh married a Quaker named Margaret, but not all sources agree that she was a Beeson. Margaret is sometimes shown as the daughter of Richard Beeson and wife Charity Grubb, but maybe disputed because she was not mentioned in Richard's will. There are numerous Beeson-Thornburgh marriages, so it is possible that Margaret is related to the Beeson family.

Slade-389 and Beeson-100 appear to represent the same person because: Same name, same husband, same death place. No evidence for 'Slade'. Use 'Beeson'.

mix-up ? Margaret Beeson is linked as BOTH daughter and wife of Walter Thornbrugh (1711 - 1783)

I have the same question as Richard Beason. Do we have primary source records showing that Margaret is indeed a daughter of Richard Beeson and Charity Grubb? I can find no evidence. Margaret Beeson is a direct ancestor so I'd really like to find actual records. Thanks!

Is there any evidence that there was a daughter of Richard and Charity named Margaret? The published primary genealogies do not list a Margaret.
