He was a pioneer doctor of Houston County, Texas. Came to Texas about 1838 and settled near Crockett, Houston Co., Texas. He practiced medicine in what is now the Murchison Neighborhood. He took his headright grant in what is now Anderson County. In 1844 he returned to North Carolina and married Paulina Catherine Tatum. He did not live a year after he was married. He died from pneumonia, the effect of "swimming" in the Trinity River on a freezing night. He left one child, Jane Armistead Beeson, who was born on April 30, 1845, 2 months after his death. Paulina then married DR W>G>W. Jowers in Crockett, Houston Co. on May 13, 1846. She died on September 27, 1862 and is burried in Palestine, Texas.
