Biography

Edward Beeson was born about 1716 and was the child of Richard Beeson (1684-1777) and Charity Grubb (1687-1761).

On the 18th day of the 12th month (old style-February) 1737, he informed the Chester County, Pennsylvania Friends Monthly Meeting that he would take the next meeting in Hopewell. He married Martha soon after his arrival there.[1] His membership was transferred from Nottingham Monthly Meeting to Hopewell, Virginia on 18 January 1738.

He married Martha Mendenhall (1714-1800) about 1738 in Berkeley County, Virginia. She was the daughter of John Mendenhall and Susannah Pierson.

Children of the Beeson-Mendenhall Marriage

  1. Edward Beeson Jr. was born on 4 March 1739. He married Jane Pugh, daughter of Jesse Pugh and Alice Malin on 21 November 1767 at Back Creek Meeting. Edward died on 23 May 1817.
  2. Charity Beeson was born on 18 March 1741. She married Richard Ridgeway, son of Josiah Ridgeway and Rachel Brown on 1 August 1761. Charity died before 1788.
  3. Mary Beeson was bonr on 18 January 1743. She married Abel Walker, son of Abel Walker and Sinah Pugh on 12 January 1761 at the Hopewell Meeting. Mary died on 13 March 1782.
  4. Micajah Beeson was born on 18 February 1745.

Death

Edward died before 3 October 1746 in Frederick County, Virginia as that is the date of the inventory of his estate.

it is impossibe to believe that this Edward also married Rachel (Pennington) Beeson since her dates are (1662-1713)!

She died before he was born??????
