"She taught school and finished the Pontotoc Female Academy...She was one of the first females to attend "Ole Miss."
The attendance at Pontotoc Female Academy has not been verified. The University of Mississipi has no record of her attendance. It is possible that she attended Union Female College in Oxford MS whose president (1865-1873) was her cousin, Rev. C. H. Bell. See Morse-Sneed e-mail.
: She lived with my family at 512 N. 6th St., Durant, OK from about 1944 until her death. She was largely an invalid at this time. I remember she dipped snuff.
Prior to this, she lived with "Aunt Sallie" (Bell-882) in a house on the SW corner of 10th and Evergreen Sts. in Durant, OK. She moved in with us when Aunt Sallie died.
