Biography

Alfred Beltwas born February 14, 1788 to Carlton Belt and Anne Campbell in Montgomery, Maryland. His parents were married 12/26/1784 in Loudoun, Virginia.

He married Charlotte Trundle. They were married 12/18/1809 in Prince George's, Maryland. Their children were:

1. Ruth Ann (Belt) Sinclair 1812 - 1891.^[1] She married George Sinclair I 1806 - 1851
2. Mary Eleanor (Belt) Hempstone 1814 - 1895.^[2] He married Cephas Hempstone 1805 - 1874
3. Alfred Campbell Belt 1816 - 1883. He married Mary Rebecca Mills 1818 - 1904
4. Joseph W. Belt 1819 - 1861. He married Maria Murphy 1824 - 1873
5. John Lloyd Belt.^[3] He married Married Sarah Eleanor McGill 1818 - 1903.

He died, at the age of 84, on July 1, 1872 in Loudoun County, Virginia. Alfred is buried at the Saint Pauls Episcopal Church Cemetery in Point of Rocks, Frederick County, Maryland, USA.^[5]

Research Notes

Alfred was first interred at the former property of David Trundle, a family Cemetery that was destroyed in 1958 by PEPCO Holding to create an electric power plant. The exact location of the burial location is unknown. Some gravestones/burials have been relocated to other local cemeteries. Richard Flinn, author of "The Trundle (Trunnell) Family of Maryland" states that Alfred and his wife Charlotte were re-interred at Point of Rocks Cemetery, Frederick County, Maryland.
