Levi Armstead Bennett was born in 1850 in Houston County, Texas, United States to Miles Bennett (1816-1887) and Sara Laura Jordan (1830-1925).

Marriage and Family

On either 18 or 21 December 1882 in Anderson County, Texas, Levi married Emma Conaway (1868-after 24 April 1884). There are Texas state sources for both dates, but probably 18th. Emma was the daughter of Alfred H. Conaway (1824-1868) and Martha Jane Kennedy (1840-1879). She was orphaned at age 11 and her grandmother Eliza (Killion) Kennedy (1819-1881) raised her with the help of her aunt and uncle.

  1. Fannie Lee Bennett was born on 29 December 1883 in Elkhart, Anderson, Texas, USA. She married John Randolph Walling (1879-1946) on 2 December 1902 in Anderson County, Texas. Fannie died on 13 February 1965 in Elkhart, Anderson, Texas, USA.

Occupations

There are articles in Galveston Newspaper on 15 June 1880 and 25 August 1881. The 1881 article gives his occupation as Deputy Sheriff of Anderson County, Texas.

Death and Burial

Levi died on 7 December 1889 in Anderson County, Texas, United States at the age of 39. He was buried in the Pilgrim Cemetery (White section, Elkhart, Anderson, Texas. Find A Grave: Memorial #40620992. His grave is unmarked.
