Biography

Sarah Berkeley, was born about 1674, the daughter of Edmund Berkeley and Mary Kemp, her step-father was John Mann. Mary Kemp Berkely Mann, will was proved 16 June 1704, she included her son-in-law and grandchildren, Joseph, Edmund, Elizabeth and Sarah.[1]

She was married to Joseph Ring, before 1688, he wrote his will 3 December 1698, he died 26 February 1703, at the age of 57. Sarah received his house and plantation, "beloved wife Sarah during her naturall life." This area was 630 acres, and called "Ringfield" or "Ring's Neck"--Joseph Ring had acquired this estate from the Underhill family, and in his will assigned this area first to his wife Sarah for her natural life, then it was to go to Joseph Jr, if he died without heirs, it was to pass to Edmund, Isaac, Elizabeth and Sarah. By 1769, Elizabeth the wife of John Wormley eventually inherited this 630 acres, because those siblings who had lived to adulthood had no heirs.[2]

Joseph Walker wrote his will 11 November 1723, making "Sarah executrix" along with Mann Page and John Wormley. It was probated 16 December 1723.
