Biography

Mary Bethune (1823-1898)[1] was the daughter of the Rev. John Wadden Bethune and Elizabeth Hallowell. [2] She was the wife of Sir John Abbott, who served as Canada's prime minister from June 16, 1891 to November 24, 1892.[3] She died in Montréal at the home of her son, J. B. Abbott.[4]
