Württemberg, originally just a castle and probably some surrounding land, is recorded from about the late eleventh century, but it's not clear how the early rulers were related, or even if, they were related. However the following family is listed by a number of sources (see below).
A Konrad (I) von Beutelsbach was probably the same person as the first ruler of Wúrttemberg; Konrad de Wirtinisberg or Counradus de Wirtineberc. He had two siblings, Bruno, the Abbot of Hirsau, and their sister Luitgard who was the mother, by an unnamed man, of Konrad II, who succeeded his uncle in Württemberg.[1]
It is possible that Konrad I and his siblings were descended from Konrad I, Herzog von Kärnten (Duke of Carinthia) of the Salian dynasty[2] but the names of their parents are unknown. The Poppo von Beutelsbach and his wife an unnamed woman, surname von Calw originally entered into Wikitree as their parents, are probably from an older tradition and either fictitious or transplanted into this family from elsewhere. Likewise Richenza von Beutelsbach, entered as another daughter of this couple, doesn't appear in the sources as a sister of Konrad I of Württemberg.
Bruno entered the church and was Canon of Speyer Cathedral and became a monk at the Abbey of Hirsau or Hirschau probably some time in the 1080's. He was elected as the Abbot in 1105 and died 23 March 1120 and was buried at Hirsau.[3]
