Oliver Beckwith Bidwell, son of William and Mary (Pelton) Bidwell, was born on 16 May 1810 at Farmington, Hartford County, Connecticut.[1][2]
He attended Yale and was ordained in 1841. He prepared a series of missionary maps for use in church lecture-rooms and a book Missionary Manual, a key to the missionary maps, etc was published in 1847. The closing line of the preface is: "That these maps may help to awaken a missionary spirit, and subserve the interests of the Redeemer's Kingdom, is the most earnest wish and ardent prayer of The Author."[3] A search for maps and his name generates a number of images.
Oliver died on 5 Aug. 1881 at Jersey City, New Jersey,[2] and was buried at Plot: Section E Row 11 Stone 45, Middle Ridge Cemetery, Madison, Lake County, Ohio. His memorial has photos and links to those of family members.[4]
Oliver never married.[2]
