Samuel Blair was born on 16 May 1760 in Chester, Pennsylvania, son of John Blair and Sarah Hibberd.

His wifes name is unknown. he died intestatein 1757. His daughter, Sarah Hibberd, married,first,John Blair, who died between 1766 and 1768-9. Sarah (Hibberd) Blair married, second, before 1770, John Waits, who was living in Sprinfeild township, Westmoreland County( part now Fayette). He removed to Washington County, Penn, where he died in 1782. Sarah Waits died in 1810. Her will of Jan 9, 1808, probated April 25, 1810, is of record in Washington County.
