George was born in June of 1813 at Barbourville in Knox County, Kentucky. He was the son of Curtis Blakey Sr. and Marian ( Wilson ) Blakey. He married Sarah Lucinda Powers on April 11,1833 in Whitley County, Kentucky. He passed away in 1887 at Huntsville in Scott County, Tennessee.
