Biography

This profile is part of the Blanchard Name Study.

Isaac, the 3d son of Nathaniel sen., was born in Shutesbury, Mass, about 1750, and m. Miriam, dau. of Dr. Lord, of Athol, Mass., and had six children, among whom was Jonathan, the 3d son, who was born in Westmoreland, Mar. 15, 1781 and m. Polly, dau. of Roswell Pierce of Putney, Vt., a famous singer of patriotic songs. He (Blanchard) came to Walpole, in 1815 and had a family of 10 ch. He was a man of strict honesty of purpose and unobtrusive in character. His wife, who survived him many years, possessed in a high degree Christian fortitude in affliction, and gentleness of character in demeanor. He d. July 20, 1847; she d. Sep. 19, 1872, aged, 84. Ch.

I. Adeline, b. Jan 4, 1813; d. in 1823.
II. Louisa Lord, b. May 18, 1815. She has been confined to her bed upwards of forty years, with a disease of the spine, and during this long period she has been a model of patience and submission. She has, from reading and conversation with visitors, acquired a large fund of information which those who have seen more of the world might envy. Occasionally she receives some benefactions from charitable people, one of whom, worthy of note, was from Levi Lyman in 1872, of 0, about ten days before he died. It came to her very opportunely and was received with tears of gratitude and joy.
III. William Durant, b. Oct 11, 1818. William was a merchant in Nashua, N.H.; d. Sep. 9, 1841.
IV. Willard Tyler, b. Oct 11, 1818. Willard T. lives on the old homestead, unmarried, tenderly supplying the wants of his unfortunate sister, Louisa.
V. John Pierce, b. Sep 1, l821; m Annira Redeaut, Oct. 19, 1849,-resides in Putney, Vt. Ch. William Henry, Charles Pierce, George Edwin, Edward John, Hattie Ann, d young, and Hattie Melvina.
VI. Roswell Sawyer, b. Sep 29, 1829; m Maria Staples, of Williamstown, Vt. Ch. 1st Louisa. Maria, b. Mar. 29, 1850; m. James Nash and has 3 ch. 2d Frank Russell, b. Oct. 1857; d.1866. 3d Albert Ellsworth. 4th Ella Frances (See Ap )
VII. Albert Isaac, d. in infancy
VIII. Albert Isaac, b. Mar. 11,1828; m. Ann R. Russell and settled in Nashua, where he d: leaving 2 ch.
IX. Charles Dinsmore, d. in infancy.
X. Joseph Norton, b. June 18, 1832; m. Jane Wait of Chester, Vt. and lives in Peterborough, N.H., and has one ch. Effie, b. in 1869.[1]
