Research Notes

The original FamilySearch link was merged away. Have updated the source link below. But there is conflicting info there regarding possible family connections. Not sure yet which can be trusted. [2]

Zachariah was born 1780 in Clearwater Run, Chesterfield, Virginia to Isham and Sarah Wilkinson Blankenship or to William and Mary Martha Riggins (or Mary Martha Riggings) Blankenship Sr or to William and Molly Trent (mother, not wife?) Blankenship Sr. The latter is marked as preferred. [2] He died in 1835. Married Edith Blankenship (maiden name unknown?), and father to Zadok and 5 other children. [2] However, he would likely be too young to have fathered his first son William in 1793

I not yet able to find another Zachariah Blankenship born 1764 and died in 1835, so the original birth date listed here must have been a typo. Or there really are two different Zechariah's with similar death dates.

Clearly, Elisha is not his mother, as they are close to the same age, and Elisha is male. If we go with the Isham family, then Elisha would be his brother, along with 19 other siblings. Else if we go with one of William Sr family, then maybe a cousin. Obviously, another typo in connecting relationships here.

What a tangled mess. Not sure what's correct anywhere in this family. (My commentary here is in no way intended to be a slight on any of the contributors before me. I am also just a relative and just trying to sort it all out and understand it myself)
