Pvt Stephen Blanton was a POW in Hart Island Prison Camp during the United States Civil War.
Stephen Fletcher Blanton was born on Aug. 12, 1820 in Ellenboro, Rutherford County, North Carolina, the son of Jeremiah Blanton and Sarah Womack Blanton. He was the brother of William Jackson Blanton, Temperance Blanton Edwards, Josiah Blanton and Ransom Blanton. [1]
Stephen married Sarah McDaniel on January 28, 1845 in Rutherford County, North Carolina. They had the following children:

Height: 5 foot 10 1/2 inches
After the war, Stephen moved his family to Texas. Stephen died on Nov. 13, 1900 in Whitewright, Fannin County, Texas, USA. He is buried at the Blanton Cemetery in Fannin County,Texas.[6]
