Biography

Susan was the fourth of eleven children. After the death of her father, most of the family moved to Georgia where she met and married Eli Bibby. They settled in Chambers County, Alabama and had four children. Records indicated that Susan suffered from rheumatism, On October 10, 1881 Susan Blanton Bibby died. She was seventy-four years old and was buried in the Bibby Family Cemetery.

PLEASE NOTE These are not children of Eli and Susan*. I have seen them linked in several places.

  • Martha A. Bibby (Unknown_Maiden-4) who married Joseph Washington Looser (Looser-51) at the home of Eli in 1866 was Eli's niece. I don't know her maiden name but she was married to Bailey Bibby (Bibby-288) who died at Gettysburg.
  • Ali Rebecca (Bibby-290) was the daughter of Martha and Bailey. She married James Caleb Looser.
  • Mary Ann Bibby (Bibby-289) was the daughter of Martha and Bailey. She married John Jefferson Bishop (Bishop-7062).

2. Francis Poleman Bibby – b. 26 March 1839 in Chambers County, Alabama; m. Mariana Ferrell (b. 13 October 1840 in Alabama; d. 22 August 1918 in Coffeeville, Yalobusha, Mississippi) about 1858; d. 28 September 1898 in Coffeeville, Yalobusha, Mississippi: Occupation Physician; both buried Coffeeville Cemetery Coffeeville, Yalobusha, Mississippi; Parents of seven children.

3. Flora Ann Keron Bibby – b. 22 December 1841 in Frog Eye, Tallapoosa County, Alabama [Note: portions of Frog Eye are in Chambers County]; m1, Gilbert Motier Lafayette McKnight (b. 30 June 1836 in Georgia; d. 20 August 1862 near Richmond, Virginia) on 4 July 1858 in Chambers County; m2 Joseph Franklin Looser (b. 29 November 1843 in Lafayette, Chambers County, Alabama; d. 13 January 1923 in Chambers County, Alabama) on 31 December 1865 in Chambers County; d. 17 October 1886 in Frog Eye, Chambers County; buried in Bibby Family Cemetery. Children with Gilbert McKnight: Lucious Poleman McKnight, & Lula McKnight Griffin Children with Joseph Looser: James A. Looser, Joseph E. Looser, William Thomas Looser, Warren S. Looser, Deborah Lenora Looser, Edgar Jones Looser, Marvin L. Looser, Laura L. Looser, Sue Ellen Looser, Fred Clinton Looser.

4. Martha Demaris Bibby – b. 2 September 1845 in Chambers County; m. Joseph Caleb Oliver (b. 12 July 1840 in Harris County, Georgia; d. 16 October 1897 in Cullman, Cullman County, Alabama) on 6 September 1860 on Chambers County; d. 8 July 1911 in Baileyton, Cullman County, Alabama; both buried at Baileyton Cemetery Baileyton, Cullman, Alabama. Parents of ten children.
