DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Benjamin by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.

The great majority of the old pioneers in these volumes were plain, ordinary folks who made their Living by tilling the soil. Youll find a few doctors, lawyers, ministers, business-men in the books, also many who held public office, county officers, judges, legislators and congressmen. A few in the books were well-to-do for their day, and another few were just tenant-farmers. This Compiler does not classify people by their importance, and feels that each had some part in making our state arid section what it is today.

The first wife died two days after the birth of her fifth child. Mr. Blitch then married Charlotte Hurst, and they had one son, Henry Blitch, who was badly afflicted and died young.
Mr. Blitch died testate, leaving a will dated Oct. 27, 1845, probated May 4, 1846 in Effingham County. Thomas and Moore Blitch were named by their father as executers of the will, and administered the estate.
BLITCH, BENJAMIN. 1768-1846 EFFINGHAM.
Benjamin Blitch, ancestor of many Wiregrass Georgians through his son Benjamin Blitch (Vol. 1), was born 1768 in St. Matthews Parish, now Effingham County, and died there in 1846. He was married Sept. 24, 1803, in that county, to Sarah Spiers, daughter of Moore Spiers and wife Millie. They had five children, viz:
1. Thomas b. 1805, m. MaryAnn Brogdon.
2. Moore b. 1807, m. 1st Vashti Futrell, Jan. 13, 1837; no issue. 2nd. Mary Ann Cochran, Dec. 29, 1840.
3. James b. 1809, lost or stolen when about two years old.
4. Benjamin Jr. b. 1811, m. Harriet Wilson, dau.of Luke.
5. Sarah b. 1813, m. 1st Christopher F. Futrell, Fob. 28, 1837;
2nd Wm. Cannuet. Died 1910.
