Biography

Jesse Daniel Bloomer was born on November 21, 1816 in Hawkins County, Tennessee, USA, the son of Daniel Bloomer and Lucy DeFoe. He wed Rachel Ruth Livesay about 1836.

The family is found in Tennessee on the 1840 US Census at Hawkins County and in 1850 at Hancock County. He moved his family to Kentucky in the 1850s and they appear on the US census at Rockcastle County in 1860. Their children include: Celia, Mary, Nancy, John J., Francis Marion, Jane, James Monroe, Thurman, Martha A., William Mc., Amanda, Lilly Alice, and Zedadiah.

Jesse and Rachel passed away from typhoid in 1863 and the youngest children were put under the guardianship of relatives.

William M. Bloomer was placed in the care of his brother John J. Bloomer (Guardian Bond dated 17 December 1864).

Lilly Alice Bloomer was placed in the care of her cousin Nehemiah Bloomer (Guardian Bond dated 4 March 1865).
