Hello, Jennifer!

As you have been a member of WikiTree for a few weeks now I thought I would check in to see how you are getting on with the site.

Has the New Member How-To been helpful or left you with any questions?

I am here to help with any problems or queries you may have. Just click my name, then ask in the comment section of my page or send me a private message.

Sometimes links don't work in emails. If that's happened to you, check the public comments on your profile. The links will work from there.

Hope I did not confuse you by referring to the mark up language. It is what makes links. So, in the examples, where you see 2 brackets, a surname with a dash and number and the a line and a name, that is what makes the name a link to that person's profile.

Part 2

The sources page does have an example for personal recollection https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Sources

It is again using the mark up language, if you go into edit on one of your existing profiles, it will show you on the side how to link to an existing profile and show you how names work.

Hi Jennifer

The example on our help page assumes you will make a free space page for the family bible and is using mark up language which can be confusing to look at. This is another example of how you can cite a family bible: Family data, Dempsey Owens Family Bible, The Holy Bible (American Bible Society, New York 1853); original owned in 2001 by William L. Owens (put mailing address here). The Dempsey Owens Family Bible passed from Dempsey to his son James Turner Owens, to his son Dempsey Raymond Owens, to his son William L. Owens. Also, if you know the person is listed on findagrave.com you can could the url of their memorial page like this: https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/181887227/fredrick-bazley
