William K. Board was born about 1815 in Virginia (probably Wood County) and died on 24 January 1895 in Reedy, Roane County, West Virginia.[1]

Some Trees state his birth was on 24 March 1815 in Roane County, Virginia.[3] But Roane County, Virginia was not formed until 11 March 1856.
His father is believed to have been Patrick BOARD who was listed on the personal tax list of Wood County, Virginia in 1813[5] for the first time. Patrick was also listed in Wood County, Virginia Personal Property Tax lists for 1814,[6] 1815,[7] 1816,[8] 1817,[9] 1818,[10] 1819,[11] and 1820[12] If Patrick was William's father, this allows us to apply a probable birth location for William as Wood County, Virginia since William's birth estimate is about 1816.

Parentage:

The memorial at Find A Grave links his parents as being Patrick BOARD (1750 - 1839) and Mary KEYSER (1770 - 1859).[2]
In 1810, a "Pat BOARD" was enumerated in Monongalia County, Virginia[13] with 2 Free White Males Aged Under 10 Years, 3 Free White Males Aged Between 10 and 16 Years, 1 Free White Male Aged Over 45 Years, 2 Free White Females Aged Under 10 Years, 1 Free White Female Aged Between 10 and 16 Years and 1 Free White Female Aged Between 26 and 45 Years. This would have been about 5 Years before William's birth.
In 1813, Patrick BOARD was listed on the personal tax list of Wood County, Virginia[5] for the first time.
In 1830, Patrick BOARD was enumerated in Wood County, Virginia[14] with 1 Free White Male Aged Between 15 and 20 Years, 1 Free White Male Aged Between 70 and 80 Years and 1 Free White Female Aged Between 70 and 80 Years.

Marriage (1):

On 5 September 1839 in Jackson County, Virginia, William Sheppard reported that he had married William BOARD and Zilpha SMITH.[15]

Marriage (2):

On 28 September 1852, D. P. FLESHER gave permission for his daughter, Nancy to marry William K. BOARD.[16]
On 29 September 1852, William K. BOARD and T. A. ROBERTS obtained a marriage bond for William K. BOARD to marry Nancy FLESHER.[17]
