"Ancestry: Rootsweb (G Bonnet); 'Bonnet, Ayo, Bloomgarden, Yoast, and related families (Source: Southwest Louisiana Records, by Father Donald J. Hebert; Hebert Publications: Rayne, LA, 1974 - 1990): 'A Jacob Bogard is mentioned in "A History of Missouri: History of the Exploration and Settlement of Missouri" (1908, chapter 14, p. 150) as "living in 1800 on the road to Illinois adjacent to John Friend." It is possible that this is the same Jacob Bogard who married Marguerite Ritter. If so, he might have abandoned his family, which would explain the lack of records of him in Louisiana after 1800. On the other hand, the other Louisiana Jacob Bogard (m. Mary Johnson) also apparently spent some time in New Madrid, Missouri, so this might be him. Jacob seems to have been dead by 1803, at which time his wife, Marguerite Ritter, remarried to Jonathan Seaman and is referred to as the widow of Jacob Beaugarde? If Jacob had abandoned his wife and had been incommunicado for a number of years, he may have been assumed dead; but there?s no direct evidence of this, so I?m placing Jacob's death date as "before 1803" '" [1]
"Ancestry Rootsweb: 'David E. LeLeux family tree... ID: I17634... Jacob Bogard Sex: M
Name: Jacob Bogard , Sr....Birth... New Hamshire County, Virginia... ABT 1758 in Hampshire... eath: ABT 1801 FA1: Camile Aboger (Boguen) also listed as father of Jacob Jr. instead of Jacob Borgard, Sr....Other spelling Borgard... Note: There may be two different Jacob Bogards here -- one that married Mary Johnson and one that married Marguerite (Reader) Ritter. If you notice, unless there is an error, Jacob had children with Mary Johnson, then married Marguerite and had a child, then Jacob began having children again with Mary Johnson. And then again, this may be correct. I am going to leave th is scenario as it is, unless someone can prove differently'. -David E. LeLeux. 'Jacques Abogar (Jacob Bogard), native of Virginia, legitimate son of Curnilio Bogar (Cornelius Bogard) and Maria Patterson, Protestants; marred Margarita Raiter (Ritter), legitimate daughter of Miguel Raiter and Barbara Maria Cor, natives of Germany and Antigua; residents of the Opelousas Post. August 5, 1793. (this is gleaned from Gladys Devillier's "The Opelousas Post," and a trip to Louisiana to check into the original records.)' -Gordon Bonnet:" [2]
