Biography

Fact: There was a Henry (and Thomas Jr.) Boleyn, but nothing really is known about his date of birth or death.

Sources

  • A discussion of the burial plates of Henry and Thomas can be found at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=loGyBqxEIN4. This video, produced by Claire Ridgway (author of several Tudor books), does a decent job of weighing the evidence.

Additional sources: Henry was buried with his grandfather Thomas in St. Peter Churchyard in Hever, Kent, England. There is a brass plaque in his honor there. ( English Churches - South.” St Peter's Church, Hever'. Accessed May 11, 2021. [1])

Also, He is thought to have been born in Blickling Hall in Norfolk, England with an alternative birthplace of Hever Castle in Kent, England. This is where his famous siblings Mary, Anne, and George were probably born.

He is also thought to be older than his brother George, however, no birth records are available. Given that he was named after King Henry VIII, traditionally the first-born males are named after their father or the King, this would also support the claim. Thomas & Elizabeth had children annually from the time of their marriage (about 1498-9) to the death of Thomas's father (1505).
