Biography

  • According to author Kerry Boren, William and family relocated to North Carolina in 1748. They first settled in Rowan County, and then the old Dobbs County, now Greene County. From there William and sons Charles, Joseph and John moved on to Orange County sometime before 1755. By 1755 son John had returned to Dobbs County and then later to South Carolina. Francis eventually went back to Dobbs County, appearing on a voter list there in 1779.
  • William might have remarried after moving to North Carolina in 1748 since it is not known when his wife Sarah died. No name is given for the spouse on the marriage record. (See source below)
