Biography

Loraine Jane Boren was born on 25 or 26 September 1868 in Wallsburg, Wasatch County, Utah Territory. ^{[1] [2]} Her parents were William Jasper Boren and Lucina Mecham. ^[1]

She appeared in the 1880 US Census in Wallsburg, Wasatch County, Utah Territory. ^[3] She was living with her parents and her siblings William Jasper, Samuel, Isora, Moses, Clinton, Annie, and Ida. ^[3]

She married William James Wall on 27 November 1888 in Benjamin, Utah County, Utah Territory. ^[4] They had eight children:

She appeared in the 1900 US Census in Diamond Precinct, Juab County, Utah. ^[5] She was living with her husband William and their children James, Ida, Lawrence, Cora, and Thomas. ^[5]

She appeared in the 1910 US Census in Benjamin, Utah County, Utah. ^[6] She was living with her husband William and their children James, Ida, Lawrence, Cora, Thomas, Alice, and baby (Clifford). ^[6]

She appeared in the 1920 US Census on a farm in Precinct 7 in Salt Lake County, Utah. ^[7] She was living with her husband, their children Thomas, Alice, and Clifford, and a boarder Eris Rassmussen (18). ^[7] Her son James and his family were living next door. ^[7]

She appeared in the 1930 Census at 926 South 13 West in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, Utah. ^[8] She was living with her husband and their son Clifford. ^[8]

She died on 20 January 1931 in Salt Lake City. ^[1]

She was buried on 23 January 1931 at the Benjamin Cemetery in Benjamin, Utah County, Utah. ^{[1] [9]}

Her obituary in the 21 January 1931 edition of the Salt Lake Telegram ^[10] reads:

WALL--Mrs. Lorraine Jane Boren Wall, 60, 926 South Thirteenth West street, wife of James Wall, died in a local hospital following an operation for gallstones Tuesday. She was born in Wallsburg, Utah, September 25, 1870, later living in Taylorsville and two years ago moving to Salt Lake. Surviving, besides her husband, are the following children: James Earl Wall of Magna, Mrs. Heber Hand, Lawrence and Clifford Wall of Salt Lake, Mrs. Cora Allen of Delta, Thomas Wall of Murray and Mrs. Alice Malstrom of West Jordan.

Birth Date

Her death certificate lists her birth date as 25 September 1870. ^[1]

The "Membership of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1830-1848" database says she was born on 26 September 1868. ^[2] In the 1880 Census she was 11 years old, so 1868 is probably more accurate than 1870. ^[3]
