Alice was born in about 1856, the daughter of Shubel Bowen and Sarah Sargent. The 1861 census lists her as 5 years old.[1] She was listed as 15 on the 1871 census.[2]
She married Floyd "Galon" Heath in Potton in about 1882. She had been working as a servant in the household of Galon's father Charles Heath, while Galon still lived there.[3] The couple had the following children:
Lillian Rose, b. 25 Mar. 1883; m. William T. Martin; d. 31 Jan 1974
Mayhew, b. 1887; d. 6 Mar. 1955
Alden, b. 1888
Robert John, b. 7 Aug. 1889; m. Winnifred Mae Wilson, 21 Sep. 1926; d. 31 Dec. 1962
Merrill, b. 1893; m. Arvilla Maude Fullerton; d. 13 June 1965, and
Arnold, b. 12 Nov. 1896; m1. Lena May Bufford Coburn, 16 Apr. 1936; m2. Beatrice Maud Aiken, 1 Sep. 1953; d. 30 Nov. 1959.
In 1891, Alice was living with her nephew Samuel and her niece Clara, listed by her maiden name, with her four "Heath" children[4]
On the 1901 census, she was recorded with her husband and four children.[5] It records her birth year as 1858, not 1856, but this is inconsistent with earlier censuses.
In the 1911 census, Alice and her husband were both recorded living in Mansonville House.[6] The couple were again recorded together in the hotel on the 1921 census.[7]
Alice passed away in 1934[8] and was interred in the Mansonville Protestant Cemetery (Row #7)[9][10] Her Obituary was published at the time (attached).[11]
