In the 1930's, one of Shubael Sr.'s grandsons, Sam Bowen, living at the time on Hill Street in Newport, Vt., provided great details of the Bowen family tree to Elsie Bowen Griggs, the granddaughter of Sam's uncle Augustus Bowen. Elsie provided her detailed notes to another of Augustus' grandsons, Rev. Gerald Bowen, son of Horace, who in 1972 documented all Elsie's notes in a precious six-page typed manuscript still held by Gerald's descendants. Many thanks to our Bowen cousins for preserving this history, which has been invaluable in the composition of this profile for Shubel Bowen as well as those of his many siblings and descendants.
