"According to Stackpole, he went to Durham, Maine, before 1800 and settled on the east end of lot 111, which he bought on 30 Apr 1805 from John Robinson for $232. Bowie Hill is on the west end of this lot, and there is an old cemetery there containing many Bowie graves."[1]
