The family of Asa and Jane Boydston lived in Wauhatchie, west of Lookout Mountain, when the children were young. At one time all of the area was called "Wauhatchie".
After Asa was gone, Jane and her children were moved to Ider, by her father, Gaines Blevins, to one hundred and eighty acres of land he had homesteaded. The land was later divided between Jane and Asa's children. The land became known as "Boydston Creek".
