Lydia Bradford was born in 1780 in Meduncook (now Friendship), Lincoln (now Knox) County, Massachusetts (now State of Maine). Lydia was the daughter of Capt. Cornelius and Patience (Davis) Bradford, Bradford being a direct descendant of the Mayflower passenger Gov. William Bradford.
Lydia married John Morse III in 1800. Lydia and John resided on Morse Island, which is part of Friendship and where they are buried. Lydia and John had 13 children including: Hepsibeth (1801-1870), m. Jacob Fountain; Charles (1804-1826); Frederic B (1805-1880), m. Sarah Wotton; Patience (1806-1880), m. Charles Geyer; James B. (1807-1866), m. Catherine M. Morse; Warren (1811-1880), m. Mary Spear; Oliver T. (1812-1888), m. Mary S. McFarland; Cornelius (1816-1896), m. Mary A. Kerby; Lydia (1819-1888), m. Isaac Thompson; Edward (1822-1900), m. Orilla Simmons; Hannah (1824-1827; John (1826-1880); and Elizabeth (1827-).
A widow, Lydia passed away at age 58 years in 1838.
