Biography

Field Bradshaw was the son of William Bradshaw and Judith Scruggs ^[1] Field's father, William Bradshaw, died intestate in Goochland County prior to 15 September 1747 when Judith Bradshaw was given letters of administration for his estate. ^[2]

As the eldest son, Field inherited his father's land, most of which was now in Cumberland County. ^{[3] [4]} Through a series of deeds starting in 1749, Field began to transfer the property which his father had owned to his siblings.

Field first gave 205 acres in the parish of Southam in Cumberland County on both sides of the Deep Creek to his brother Charles Bradshaw on 10 July 1749.^[5] Next Field gave 170 acres in the parish of Southam in Goochland County on the branches of Deep Creek to his brother-in-law Field Robinson, husband of his sister Obedience.^[6] Another deed from Field for 250 acres located in the parish of Southam on the branches of Deep Creek went to his brother Josiah Bradshaw on 10 July 1749. ^[7] The final deed written by Field Bradshaw on 10 July 1749 was for 230 acres in the Parish of Southam on both sides of Deep Creek to his brother John Bradshaw.^[8]

Sometime prior to 1754 in Cumberland County, Virginia, Field married Judith Robinson, daughter of John Robinson and Tabitha Jones. ^[9] Field and Judith became the parents of at least nine children. These children as named in the will were Benjamin, John, Rebekah, Field, Charles, Jonas, Susanna, Judith, and Josiah. ^{[10] [11]}

On 22 July 1754 Field and his wife Judith sold two tracts of land along the Deep Creek in Cumberland County to his brother William Bradshaw. One parcel was 70 acres and the other was 130 acres.^[12]
