Daniel Branham was born in 1787 to Tavener Branham Sr and Elizabeth Burbridge in Virginia. He married Theodocia Hampton, daughter of James Hampton and Hannah Cox Hampton, on Dec 1812 in Franklin County, Kentucky. In Nov 1827, he was was baptized at Stamping Ground Baptist Church in Scott County, Kentucky. He left that church with his letter in Jan 1828 and returned by letter in 1835. He was appointed to a committee which separated the colored members and helped them form a separate African Baptist Church. This church was probably the first black church in Kentucky. G. W. Dupee, a slave, was the first official pastor of the black congregation, which met in a Georgetown church building leased from the white congregation when they moved from their original building to a new church closer to Georgetown College.
Daniel died on 02 Feb 1887 in Sumner County, Kentucky.
