Syntha Brannon was born on 6 June 1822 in Spartanburg District, South Carolina, the daughter of William Madison Brannon and Judith (Seay) Brannon. She married Joseph Gramling, son of Reuben Marion Gramling and Martha Williams (High) Gramling, in 1842 in Spartanburg. Joseph and Syntha has the following children:

They were all born in South Carolina except for Sarah and Andrew with Sarah being two years old at the time of the 1860 Census and Ben being four, born in SC, indicating they removed to Arkansas around 1857.
Syntha (Brannon) Gramling's headstone is broken. All that is visible is her name and her birth date. The date of death is missing.
Synthia was born in 1822. She passed away about 1906.

Per a news article from the The Fort Smith Times, published 30 April 1906, Monday, Pg 3, "Paragould: Yesterday was a great occasion at Warren's Chapel...The occasion was the funeral of Aunt Synthia Gramling, one of the oldest settlers in the county...born Jan. 6, 1822 in Spartenburg District of South Carolina...was married to J.R. Gramling Nov. 25, 1841, moved with her husband to Greene county, Arkansas in 1856 and died at her home in the county January 8, 1906 aged 84 years and two days."[1]
