William was the only child of Sir William Brereton, of Brereton, Lord Chief Justice of Ireland, and his wife, Alice Savage, daughter of Sir John Savage.[1]
Sir William Brereton of Brereton, kt, died 1559, married Jane Warburton, daughter of Sir Peter Warburton;[1] buried at Brereton, 4 September, 1559, Jane's mother was Elizabeth Wynynton; Jane afterwards married Sir Lawrence Smith of Hough;
Andrew Brereton[1] married Catherine daughter of Sir Andrew Fitz-Simon of the Kingdom of Ireland.
Ellen Brereton married to 1) John Carington, and 2) Lawrence Winington of Hermitage;
Edward Brereton, [1] married to Edith Birche daughter of William Birche, of Birche, co Lanc.
William died c. 1534. He predeceased his father, who died in Ireland and was buried in Kilkenny on 4 February, 1541.[2]
