Biography

Ireland Native
John Bresnahan was born in Ireland.

John was born about 1814 in Ireland. He came to live in London in the late 1840s and in 1851 was a fruit seller living with his wife Mary and two daughters in Camberwell, Surrey [1]

Joannis Brosnan and Maria Ryan of Traneragh were married in Duagh, County Kerry, in 1840. The witnesses were William Costello, Jacob Dole and Charles Hennehan. On the same day John Brosnan was a witness at the marriage of Johanna Brosnan of Islandarry to Jacob Galivan. [2]

At the marriage of his daughter Bridget in 1867 he was recorded as being a hawker.

In 1871 he was living at 6 Park Row, Peckham, Surrey, with wife Mary, and three daughters, Catherine, Margaret and Eliza. He was then a fruit hawker. 6 Park Row is also the address of his son-in-law, Richard Kingsman married to John's elder daughter Bridget [3]
