Elizabeth Brett was born in 1797 in St Nicholas at Wade, Kent, England. She was the daughter of Michael Brett and Susannah Foreman. Elizabeth was christened in St Nicholas on 5 February 1797.[1][2]
In the 1841 census, George and Elizabeth were living with Charles in Preston by Wingham, Kent. By 1851, they were in Ramsgate and Elizabeth's sister, Jane, and Aunt Philadelphia were visiting.[3]
In 1861, Elizabeth was a widow and her son Charles had also been widowed. He was a Captain in the Merchant Service and was living with Elizabeth and his two young children. Elizabeth's sister, Mary, was also there.[4]
