Dottry (Dott) was born April 23, 1921 in Sevier County, Tennessee, United States. He is one of 9 children born to Rev. George Washington Brewer and Barbara Alice Trotter.

Dott grew up in the mountains high above Wears Valley in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee in a community called Brewertown.

In July 1940 he joined the US Army and spent 5 years with them including being on the beach in Normandy on D-Day. During this time he rose in the ranks from a Private to a Tec-5.

On June 11, 1946 Dott married Pauline Henderson in Chatsworth, Murray County, Georgia, United States. Dott and Pauline had the following children:

  2. Paula Juanita Brewer
  3. George Marcus Brewer
  4. Elizabeth Ann Brewer
  5. Dottry George Brewer, Jr.
  6. Carla Teresa Brewer
  7. Robin Lynn Brewer

Dott passed away February 15, 1987 in Dalton, Whitfield County, Georgia and was laid to rest in Whitfield Memorial Gardens, Dalton, Whitfield County, Georgia, United States.
