Biography

Oliver Brook was born at Jamberoo, NSW, in 1855.[1] He was the son of Thomas Brook and Eliza Colton.

Oliver married Elizabeth Roberts at Goulburn, NSW, in 1879.[2] They had a family of five girls.

He died from typhoid fever at his home in Goulburn on the 7th of April, 1892.[3][4]

MR. OLIVER BROOKS, a well-known resident of the city, died at his residence, Bourke-street, opposite the Wesleyan Church, on Thursday last after an illness of three weeks. The deceased gentleman held a position in the railway service, being inspector of quarries. He was held in much esteem, his genial, unassuming manner winning him many friends, and his death is much regretted. Mr. Brooks was a well-known figure in the cricket field, his services as umpire, in which capacity he gave the greatest satisfaction, being always in great demand. The deceased, who was 36 years of ago, leaves a wife and five children, all girls, and all under fourteen years of age. He was a member of the Victoria lodge of Oddfellows, the members of which attended his funeral yesterday.
