Biography

Benjamin Brook was born in the parish of Marylebone, London, on the 13th of December, 1811, and baptised on the 5th of January, 1812.[1][2] He was the son of Edward Brook and Anne.

He was probably married to Mary Cradock or Craddock by 1837 (the birth of their son Edward).

He migrated to New South Wales via the ship Woodbridge with his wife Mary and son Edward, arriving at Sydney on the 15th of September, 1838. At that time he was a gardener and groom, and she was a servant of all work.[2][3][4][5]

He died on the 10th of July, 1884, probably at Ulladulla, NSW.[6][7]

Obituary

Milton[8]

MILTON. August 1.

DEATH has been amongst us again and taken from our midst on old and respected resident, Mr. Benjamin Brook, who had for some time been in very ailing and feeble health. He was a native of Kent, England, and has been in the colony for a number of years, about 20 of which he spent in this district. His remains were interred in the Wesleyan cemetery, a large number of relatives and friends following the corpse.
