Daniel Brown, Sr., obtained a North Carolina, Granville Grant (deed number 130), and a patent was issued on August 1, 1760, for 595 acres of land. This parcel of land was located, “On the south side Deep River”, in Orange County, North Carolina. This area later became part of Randolph County, North Carolina.
Will names: Sons: Henry, Daniel, William, Samuel, Joseph Daus: Ann, Mary Grandson Daniel Brown to stay with his grandmother Widow/wife named Grace Son Samuel, and John Cox - executors. Daniel Brown, Sr.’s, Will was written on August 4, 1788 and probated in September 1791.
Most internet sources want to make this Daniel the son of Henry Brown (Brown-76942) (also from NJ) who married (1) Mary Giles (2) Esther Harris/Harrison (3) Keziah Jones, and who died in 1757 in VA.
That Henry's son Daniel did go to Orange County but in his will of 1797 he mentions only a son William and a son Daniel, grandsons John and Shadrack. Also, no mention of anyone being a Quaker in that family. These Browns are clearly Quakers.
Also, there is a reference to Edward Carter (who married Mary Brown, dau. of Daniel Brown and Grace CRAVEN from Randolph County) in The Heritage of Buncombe County, NC (1981), pg 30 available on Internet Archives openlibrary.com
