Martha was born into the family of William and Mary Brown of Fairfield District, Rocky Creek.

Martha received a settlement from estate of her brother, George Brown, as she had power of attorney for money due her children from this estate. Heirs mentioned were John, James, William, Thomas, Jane and Isabella Brown. Jane married James Hamilton and Isabella married Martin King. Other heirs mentioned were children of Martha and childrenof Jane Brown Hamilton.

In another Chester Co. Deed Bk S, p. 56; 6 July 1816. William Brown and wife Molly Brown of Fairfield Co. appoint John McDonald of Chester Dist. to receive one part of estate of Hugh McDonald, dec’d of Chester Dist. Wit: William Brown, Jr.

Later at Thomas Stanford's Pension Application S11463 Martha's brother John Brown testifies along with David McDonald (presumably a son of Hugh McDonald) that he served in the Revolutionary War.

Again in the Pension Application Amy Stanford [Corder-574] and Egness Almon (perhaps a relative of Stanford's daughter Rebeccah's husband Jacob Almon) testified of his service.
