Polly was born on or about 10 Feb 1767.^[1][2] She was the daughter of John Brown and Elizabeth Brown.

She married WIlliam Lewis on 14 Feb 1782 in Culpeper Co., Virginia.^[1][3][4]

Polly died 18 Oct 1828 Culpeper Co., Virginia, at 61 years of age.^[1][2][5] Her body was interred Oct 1828 Culpeper Co., Virginia, Lewis Cemetery.^[6]

Various sources have conflicting dates for her birth, all in Feb 1767: the 4th, 10th, and 14th.

The marriage source shows only 1781 not 14 Feb 1782. The source of the latter date is unknown.

Various sources having conflicting dates for her death. The SAR application has 8 Oct 1828, the Alabama Surname file has 19 Oct 1828, and FindAGrave has 18 Oct 1828. None is a primary source.

No primary source documents for Polly's parents. We know that her parents were John and Elizabeth Brown but there were at least two couples of that name in Culpeper County: John Brown/Elizabeth Brown and John C Brown/Elizabeth Atkins. The confusion is linked to the fact that the Elizabeth Brown was the second cousin of her husband John Brown and John C Brown.
