Biography

Charles Babcock Brown, born 24 Oct 1802 in Bridgewater, New York, was the first child of Elizabeth (Babcock) Brown (1780-1871) & Peleg Brown (1775-1860) [1].

He married in 1830 in Bridgewater, New York, Catherine Mabbett. They had 3 children [2]:

  1. Lee C. Brown (abt.1832-1904); married Martha B. Babcock
  2. Emily Mabbett (Brown) Aiken (1835-1914); married Edwin Aiken
  3. Cora Hannah (Brown) Childs (1838-1904); married Joseph Morris Childs

Mr. Brown was a farmer, north of Unadilla Forks, but later in life moved to Unadilla Forks and manufactured farming implements with his cousin Henry H. Babcock. Later he retired from business and moved to New Hartford, where he died. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church.

Charles Babcock Brown died 28 Oct 1889 at New Hartford, New York.
