Biography

James was born in 1780, in Mecklenburg, Virginia. He was the son of John Armstead Brown and Anne Geddy (1752-1795).

On 9 Dec 1802, in Yorktown, Virginia, he married Frances Goosley. They settled in Richmond and had 10 children.
