Notes

In the master Geni profile, the curator emphasized not to confuse with the other John Bryant, Jr. on Geni, which is John Bryant on WikiTree.

On March 8, 2014, Doug Warren changed [Bryant-957 | Abigail Bryant) to be wife of this Lieut. John Bryant, instead of John Bryant, Jr, as was previously entered on WikiTree. Also, changed her children so their father was also this Lieut. John Bryant of Plympton, rather than the other John Bryant, Jr.

As suggested by Linda Ellinger on April 29, 2014, Doug Warren approved the merge of John Bryant (Bryan-3532) into John Bryant (Bryant-2025). He also adopted the profile of Bryant-2025, which had previously been an orphan profile with no manager. Lieut. John Bryant is Doug's 7th great grandfather.

The Bryant-2025 profile was initially created by Wilfred Vasile on Jun 16, 2012 with no information except the names of John and Abigail Bryant. There was a question on the profile page that seemed to indicate this was intended to represent ancestors of a John Wesley Bryant and Abigail Elliott who apparently lived in the 1880's but there was no linkage provided. Therefore, this empty profile was essentially replaced with Bryant-3532 but it had to be merged into the lower-numbered profile per WikiTree merge rules.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:

We are listing the parents in a Disputed Origins section of the bio so people realize that they are not his rightful parents, and won't add them back again (hopefully)

The two John Bryants mentioned in the comment below are different people. They should not be merged.

It appears that Bryant-750 and Bryant-187 are one and the same person. He had two wives. one was his first cousin Abigail Bryant-741 and the scond was Mary Battelle-9. The marriage dates are about 12 years apart. Can we merge these?

This John Bryant is unlikely to be the son of John Bryant-8 and Mary Lewis per NEHGR 35:37

Bryant-187 and Bryant-750 do not represent the same person because: It's not clear that these are actually the same John Bryant. The children do not match between these two profiles. For example, my ancestor Samuel Bryant, which appears in Bryant-750, is not listed for Bryant-187. I'm concerned that my entire ancestor lineage might be lost if they were merged.
