Biography

William was born in 1858, probably at Tomerong, NSW.[1] He was the son of Alexander Bryce and Isabella Watt.

William married Isabella King at her father's home in Kangaroo Valley on the 9th of February, 1887.[2][3] They farmed at Tomerong. Isabella died from complications following childbirth with twins in 1895 - one of the twins survived and was cared for by her sister-in-law Agnes, wife of Alexander Bryce, and two of their youngest children went to their Bryce grandparents. The remaining two children must have stayed with their father - he was going blind and needed one of his children nearby to help him do his farm work.[4]

Following this tragedy he moved to the Richmond River district where he continued farming,[5] then moved to Maleny, Qld, with other members of his family in about 1903.[6]

He died at Brisbane on the 14th of August, 1927,[7] and was buried in the Lutwyche Cemetery.[8][9]
