The splendidly-named Habbakuk Buckingham was born to John Buckingham and Mary (Elliott) Buckingham and christened on 26 October 1806 in Foleshill, Warwickshire, England. [1] He was the fifth of nine children.
On 8 July 1827, Habbakuk married Mary Barnes in Foleshill.[2] Together the couple had Eliza, Mark, Ann, Isaac, and Amos, with Habbakuk working as a silk and ribbon weaver. But mother Mary only appears in the 1841 census, and died some time before the 1851, as Habbakuk is described as a widower, living in Carpenters Lane, which was well-known for weavers' residences.

At some point, Habbakuk 'found religion', as all but one of his children are baptised in the Independent Chapel at Foleshill. Perhaps he was influenced by the Handloom weaver's commission Report 1841, which painted a picture of dreadful behaviour in the area.
In 1859, Habbakuk married Elizabeth Yardley in the Coventry Registration District.[5]There is no record of any children. The couple appears in the 1861 and 1871 censuses [6][7] in Foleshill, but in the 1881 census they are living in Adelaide Street, Coventry. [8]
Habbakuk died in 1889. [9]
