Biography

Elizabeth was born on 27 September 1822 in Accomack County, Virginia to James Bull and his wife Mary Mears.

Until I found Joseph C. Watson's family Bible in 1997, we thought Elizabeth was the daughter of William and Nancy Bull. The Bible, however, gave her parents’ names as James and Mary Bull.

She married Joseph C. Watson on 23 Dec 1846 in Accomack County, Virginia. The couple had three children: James Alfred, born 9 Nov 1847; Louis Oswald, born in 1850; and Mary S. “Mamie,” born 3 Feb 1851. Note: Mary “Mamie” Watson married William L. Groton, a grandson of William D. Groton and Susan Watson.

Elizabeth died of “paralysis” on 5 February 1883 at age 61 years. She is buried next to her husband in the Cokesbury Methodist Church Cemetery in Onancock, Accomack County, Virginia.
