Alice Burchett Stambaugh, 76, died Sunday, January 18, 1976 in the Paintsville Hospital after an extended illness.

A Stambaugh resident, she was born March 29, 1899, in Johnson County, and was the daughter of the lat W. J. and Florence Witten Burchett

And was a member of the Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death in 1963 by her husband, James Hobart Stambaugh.

Survivors include five sons, James Hobart, Jr., and Alvin J. both of Stambaugh, W. Lafe of Belleville, MI, Clem R. of Auxier and Charles L. of Valley Station, KY; four daughters, Jalema Teater of Stambaugh, Murvel Crum of Ypsilanti, MI, Virginia Lewis of Baltimore, MD and Janis Crigger of Wittensville; a sister, Mrs. Hester Castle of Nippa and a half brother, Eddie Burchett of Stambaugh; 15 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 20, in the Jones-Preston Funeral Home chapel with Reverends Bennie Blankenship and J. H. Short officiating.

Burial was in the family cemetery at Stambaugh with Jones-Preston Funeral Home handling arrangements.
